What Is A Konjac?

konjac

Konjac is a porous root vegetable native to Sichuan,Yunan in China. It’s similar to a potato and contains a lot of fiber.

In the food industry, you might see it as glucomannan, a thickening agent that adds texture or a potential aid in weight loss. Glucomannan can easily absorb water, so the dietary fiber may help absorb liquids in the gut, bulking up your stool and giving you a feeling of fullness.

In the beauty industry, konjac is the main ingredient in konjac cleansing sponges that are gentle enough for daily use. The fiber that makes konjac work inside your body also makes it a great exfoliator on your skin. Because the konjac root is so porous, it’s easy to form into small, round sponges.

Konjac root is a popular cleansing tool in the skin-care industry. You can use a konjac sponge (made from the root) to gently cleanse and exfoliate the skin, removing dead skin cells. To apply, simply soak the sponge in warm water for ten minutes. Apply the wet sponge directly to your face, massaging the sponge in circular motions to fully cleanse the skin.
